About Suspension, Chassis, and Steering Parts

The job of a car suspension is to maximize the contact between the tires and the road surface. In corners, the suspension is designed to provide maximum contact between the tire tread and the road surface. Steering is tuned to provide maximum straight line stability, and responsiveness in corners. On a performance suspension setup, responsiveness is the higher goal, and on a standard street vehicle, comfort is the higher goal. For vehicles used off-road, raised suspensions provide ground clearance for rough country excursions.
